Unfortunately, at this point in time, it seems far more likely, that the only things "spreading like wildfire" will be the descent into chaos and the destruction of civilization - as we know it. Certainly, many individuals and organizations, besides the crackpot fringe, consider this scenario a perfectly possible, if not likely, result of the threats facing us today.

Should these events come to pass (to one degree or another) "The Perfect Escape" will definitively be front and center in peoples minds. Many have already begun building and stocking underground bunkers to prepare for this eventuality. It would seem that this strategy might be akin to creating a well stocked bunker in the deepest bowels of the Titanic.

If a country is sinking into anarchy and chaos, one would assume the best course of action, as on the sinking Titanic, would be to take to the lifeboats. Just as the onrushing water will inevitably take over every nook and cranny of the Titanic. The onrushing tide of chaos and destruction will surely take over every nook and cranny of a  country, or civilization,  in the process of bring torn apart.

As with recommended safety procedures on an endangered ship, one should certainly make every effort to save the ship - before adopting the last recourse of taking to the lifeboats. No ship, however, particularly since the Titanic disaster, would consider sailing the stormy oceans without sufficient lifeboats. Considering the stormy conditions our civilization currently faces, it seems foolhardy not to have sufficient lifeboats.

The secondary function of Grand Illusion is to serve as such a lifeboat and to act as a template and catalyst for the construction and deployment of more such lifeboats. Like all lifeboats, the hope is that they will never be required. Unlike most lifeboats, and well stocked underground bunkers, however, they will also serve a very useful (and profitable) purpose - if it should turn out, after all, that "The sky is not falling"
